A Sustained Commitment

Since its inception in 2018, Park Century’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEIC) has organized to support and empower the diverse students, parents, and staff that make up our community. We believe our differences - in race, ethnicity, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age ability, socioeconomic status, nationality, religion, belief system, language learning styles, and more - strengthen and enrich our educational experience.

Originally formed by a few dedicated members of our faculty, the DEIC has expanded to include administration, parents, and trustees committed to promoting equity, reducing bias, increasing multicultural representation, and providing space for everyone to feel welcome and included in our community.

As with Neurodiversity, our community actively seeks to understand and celebrate racial, cultural, and identity differences through a sincere and sustained commitment to a fully inclusive school culture. We stand firmly against racism and discrimination of any kind, and we intentionally create unlimited opportunities for everyone to expand their ability to empathize and learn through participation, conversation, and representation.

DEIC Mission

Our faculty and staff DEIC Committee has worked with the Parents Association and Student Council to organize events like our annual Dia de los Muertos celebration and our Black History Month showcase, which displays the work of each classroom as they learn about the history and influence of Black Americans and the African American experience. The DEIC also formed our Adoptee Affinity Group in the fall of 2018 and the Gay Straight Alliance in the spring of 2020.
