Student Groups

Creating Future Leaders through Community

Park Century's student-led groups foster leadership, build community between students of different age levels and backgrounds, create safe spaces for kids to share and compare their unique experiences, and boost confidence of students by helping them develop their own voice.

Students choose their favorite ideas based on the issues most important to them and plan events, fundraisers, and art projects that they open to the entire Park Century community.

The Juice Group

Since its start, The Juice Group has become an empowered group of like-minded individuals who aim to spread awareness of the adoption experience. Facilitated by DEC member, teacher, and adoptee Kristy Lloyd, Park Century’s Adoptee Affinity Group met for the first time in the fall of 2018, when they voted to re-name themselves “The Juice Group”. The group meets monthly to share their experiences as adoptees and plan projects that educate the greater community about what it’s like to be adopted. Last year's Juice Group wrote, produced, and screened a documentary to enlighten non-adopted students about the adoptee experience with segments like “Adoption 101”, “Transracial Adoption”, “Adoption Anxieties”, “Adoption FAQs”, and “What Not to Say to an Adoptee”.

Gay-straight Alliance

In 2020, the DEC introduced Park Century’s first Gay Straight Alliance (GSA). The group, which aims to provide support, build education and awareness, and create enthusiasm about the LGBTQ+ community, meets monthly, welcoming participation from all students in grades 7 and 8. Student Council

Park Century’s Student Council provides leadership training opportunities for students who are interested in governance. Elected by their peers at the start of each school year, the council addresses school issues, classroom needs, and student-led initiatives.

Members understand they represent the voice of their fellow classmates and take on projects that address needs for the betterment of the school. Recent initiatives included raising funds to install an eco-friendly water fountain for refillable water bottles that will dramatically reduce the use of plastic bottles on campus.

Student council members act as conscious student role models who pledge to practice the Panther Way: Kindness, Respect, Responsibility, Cooperation, Honesty, and Resilience.
